Elmo taught the following 3-Day Workshop at Legacies III:
Broad-edged pen: Roman Capitals

Born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Studied at the Rotterdamse Grafische School (School for printing and graphic arts). I finished my study Graphic/Typographic Design at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague (passed with distinction).

In 1986 I attended a workshop in France with Claude Mediavilla. I consider this my start on the path of calligraphy.

I have taught in person workshops in multiple countries in Europe and also in Australia, South Korea, Canada and the USA, in addition to online workshops. I teach post-graduate course students type design at The Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague.

I worked as a freelance graphic designer/type designer for DTL where I designed the typeface Dorian. I was instrumental in the development of other typefaces too.

My calligraphy has been exhibited in Belgium, France, and the Netherlands, in addition to being selected for different publications.

Since 2016 I have divided my time by working for a design studio that specializes in creating corporate and annual reports, and making letters and teaching workshops as much as possible.
