Sally Penley is a fine artist and professional calligrapher living in Olympia. In addition to her love of letters and mixed-media painting, Sally has long enjoyed making Asian-inspired “marks” with handmade sumi brushes and simple makeshift tools to create textural images with sumi ink. Sally holds a BFA in Visual Communications. Before her “day job” retirement, she was director of communications at Weyerhaeuser Company in Federal Way, Washington. Sally manages the Loft Gallery at Buck’s 5th Avenue in Downtown Olympia, WA, where she also has a studio and teaches art and calligraphy classes.
