Description

Participants must use a Macintosh computer for this class. Create a working font from hand lettering. Are you pretty good with a computer? Do you know a little about Adobe Illustrator® and Photoshop®? Want to take those skills to help you develop your own fonts? There’s nothing to fear! Regardless of your skill as a lettering artist, you can create fonts from your lettering work. This workshop is designed to help beginners and novice font developers learn how to use powerful font development applications. Students will need to have experience or an understanding of how to draw vector lines in programs like Adobe Illustrator.

Supplies

IMPORTANT: Glyphs 3.0 requires Mac OS 10.11 or higher, although an older version of the app is also available (see below).

A few days prior to the class, you will need to download a free trial version of the Glyphs App. Currently (as of April 15, 2021) the newest version of Glyphs is version 3. The trial is good for 30 days. Upon expiration, you will need to purchase the app to keep using it.

If you have an older MAC system, you will want to download Glyphs 2.6. The Glyphs apps may be downloaded from this page:
